by Steve Ray on March 14, 2007

Perfect weather is frequent in Israel but other possibilities often present themselves. It is days like today that remind my pilgrims that this is not a vacation but a spiritual pilgrimage and adventure. It was pouring down rain. Many have said that rising with the sun today was the highlight of their trip — not [...]

Day Four in Israel

by Steve Ray on March 13, 2007

Day Four began with a 6:30 Wake-up Call and breakfast at Nof Ginosar in Galilee. We boarded the bus and headed a few minutes along the shore to Tabgha — which is short for longer Greek word meaning "Seven Springs." That is why the fish gravitate toward the northwest corner of the sea because of [...]

by Steve Ray on March 11, 2007

Everyone is doing great and having a wonderful time. Enjoy seeing your family and friends in the video. After a delicious breakfast we headed through the hills west to Mount Tabor, the mountain of the Transfiguration. The road up the mountains is full of switchbacks and far to steep for the buses so we took white taxis [...]

After unloading our luggage the travel-weary pilgrims ate a typical sumptuous dinner at the Nof Ginosar on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Then we boarded the buses and headed to the Primacy of St. Peter Church and held [...]

Embarrassed? They don't like looking stupid? Too much legitimate and justified criticism? Accused of "archaeo-porn"? Why did Discovery Channel pull the 2nd showing of their big money-maker? Why are they keeping mum? http://www.tvweek.com/news.cms?newsId=11681 Two excellent articles debunking the documentary. Click here.

Titanic Mistake — by Deal Hudson

by Steve Ray on March 3, 2007

With the Discovery Channel's tragic show on Sunday, it is good for Christians to arm themselves with the truth — reality and archaeology — not nonsense and amateurism. Deal Hudson's article Titanic Mistake is worth reading, printing, and giving to others who will be effected by this unfortunate "documentary."

What are the Best Dioceses in America?

by Steve Ray on March 1, 2007

Deal Hudson's article can be read here. Interesting to me was that the diocese doing the best are in areas where Catholics are least welcome; the areas where the Church is least healthy are areas where the Catholic Church has the longest history. (Link is now fixed, sorry!)
