I Like Camels

by Steve Ray on October 22, 2010

Camels are curious creatures. Someone said that a camel looks like a horse put together by a committee. Having ridden my fair share of camels, I have grown to really like them. Anyway . . . . . . what do you see in this picture? Camels, right? Look again — closely! The camels are [...]

Solution for Airports

by Steve Ray on October 21, 2010

Here’s a solution to all the controversy over “full-body scanners” at the airports… Have a booth that everyone steps into individually that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you. It would be a “win-win” for everyone, and there would be none of this nonsense about racial profiling [...]

What My Grandpa Said about the Pope

by Steve Ray on October 21, 2010

(Billy teaches Grandpa a thing or two) “My grandpa is a nice old gentleman, with gray hair, and gold spectacles, and very fond of his little grandson Billy—that’s me. Grandpa and I often go out to walk together, that is, on fine days, because on cloudy days he never goes out of the house, but [...]

Is there Evidence for Jesus outside the Bible?

by Steve Ray on October 21, 2010

Some people think Jesus is a mythical figure like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. Others think Jesus might be historical but only mentioned in the Bible is the only source of information on the existence of Jesus. They question whether Jesus really existed as a real historical figure. Is the Bible the only source [...]

Where Do You Find that in the Bible?

by Steve Ray on October 19, 2010

Protestants often accuse Catholics of making up doctrines or tradition. They often press their point by asking “Where do you find that in the Bible?” A good answer, of course, is to respond, “Where do you find in the Bible, that you have to find everything in the Bible?” The idea that everything has to [...]

Via Dolorosa & Mass at Tomb of Christ & Pilgrims Run

by Steve Ray on October 18, 2010

We started the day with a 4:30 AM wake-up call. Too early? None of our pilgrims thought so since we could enjoy the Way of Sorrows, the Stations of the Cross, without crowds that swell the streets of Jerusalem these days. We prayed the Stations of the Cross into the Church of the Holy Sepulchre [...]

His e-mail is contained in regular text and my response is in CAPITAL LETTERS. **************************************************** HELLO FRIEND: I WILL ANSWER BRIEFLY [...]

“Ecumenical” Bible Studies

by Steve Ray on October 16, 2010

Without a teaching authority, this is really true of most Bible studies. I remember Bible Studies that started out with “What does this passage mean to you?” Who cares???? What matters is – what did author intend in the context of his own time and how has the Church understood it for 2,000 years!
