Why do Catholics call their priest “Father” when Jesus said, “Call no man your father.” If you haven’t heard this question yet, some day you certainly will.
We must understand what Jesus was saying and why he was saying it in order to understand his words.
I was asked this question again and here is my reply.

Dear Mr. Ray,
I truly enjoyed your brief essay on referring to Catholic priests as “Father”. In my opinion, your analysis of 1 Cor 4:14-17 is the clearest and best explanation of this practice that I have heard — even moreso since by quoting an Epistle of St. Paul, the reasoning becomes that much more difficult for Sola Scriptura Protestants (which you and I used to be) to deny.
Thanks for your continued good work!
Steve,
Good piece! I think you missed one more important Bible passage wherein God Himself wrote as part of His 10 Commandments….Exodus 20:12: “Honor thy FATHER and thy mother..”
Every Blessings!
