Heres the real Calvinist translation of John 3:16
For God so loved the elect, that He gave His only Son, that whomsoever He had chosen to not perish but have eternal life should believe in Him. For God sent His Son to condemn the world, and to save the elect.”

I always thought (when I was a Calvinist) that witnessing was an epistomological oxymoron.
I quit taking Calvinists seriously when I realized that the only people that they considered “the elect” (and therefore the only ones saved) were themselves and anyone else who were Calvinists! There was no way anyone outside of their “flock” could be predestined for salvation! When I pointed that out to the one who was witnessing to me, he sputtered and try to say that wasn’t true, but I reminded him that I was just applying HIS logic.
I love it when people walk away from me, talking to themselves!
Excellent, Jean. If the Calvinists are right, then Jesus was being awfully silly when He told his disciples to “…make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”
Hahaha! This is so funny, and so TRUE! I laughed out loud at this one and at some of the other ones above as well. They are so true to a T. They sound like discussions I have had coupled with the irrational responses I have received.
Hmm. Maybe their translation of that verse is “make disciples of SOME nations…:” kind of like the guy I told off that tried to tell me that slavery was ok because it brought Christianity to Africans…never mind that Africans were Christians before England and Poland were. I told him that Jesus said to make disciples, not slaves!!
