Ms. Hussy’s remark is hyperbole. Her mother won’t really kill her, it’s a figure of speech drama queen teen girls use. (Like texting “OMG!” for every little thing – so common it’s reduced to a mere abbreviation.) In contrast, the baby’s thought is reality. See the difference?
