This weekend we attended the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass outside with puffy white clouds blowing overhead and with my grandson playing quietly in the grass at my feet.
The crucifix behind the altar (which you see here) is the largest cross and crucifix in the world. I love the picture with the rays of light spreading across the sky, like God the Father shining upon His Son, and Jesus looking down, right into your eyes.
I took this picture two years ago and you will notice it used in our video/DVD “Jesus: the Word became Flesh”.
It was a special weekend at the Cross in the Woods in Indian River Michigan because 1) they are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the huge cross and 2) because the US Bishops are about to announce the Cross in the Woods as an official Catholic Shrine.
If anyone visits the Cross in the Woods and finds our family brick in the walkway, I will send them a gift. You will know it our brick because it says “Stephen Ray Family, New Converts, 1994.” By the way, our family had a great time together for four days in Northern Michigan.
