Day of Suffering and Death

by Steve Ray on April 26, 2007

Started the day at the newly re-opened chuch of Santo Stefano Rotundo. Janet and I have been eagerly awaiting its renovation for over eight years. It has 30-40 graphic painted murals depicting the gruesome torture and death of early Christians. I will post pictures when I get to the next good internet connection.

Then on to finish filming in San Clemente. Fr. Cunningham has been delightul and extremely helpful!

Tomorrow to the Colosseum and the Via Appia Antica. Pray for us!

Hi Steve,
my name is Tommaso and want to tell you that the Footprints of God series is a treausure for us catholics. I watched almost the entire collection and I have to say that I ‘ve never seen anything like it.
Steve, I know the this will sound crazy but during the lenten season I listened your conversion story on tape every time I went on my car and I almost learned the tape by heart.
I will pray God for your trip in Rome. God bless you.

Hello,

When my wife and I visited Rome a few years ago, we were vividly moved when we visited Santo Stefano Rotundo. It was in the middle of renovation, but it was still open (although fairly dark). Are there any photo’s posted of the various murals? I have been hoping to find some and use them to teach Adult Sunday School classes on suffering and martydom. Many thanks if you can help.

God bless,

Paul Jarosz

Hello Paul:

I don’t know of any place where the pictures are posted. I took a lot of them and if you want copies, I could copy them to a disk and mail them to you if you wouldn’t mind sending a check for $10 to cover the cost from my end. I pay my daughter to do all of this kind of thing for me. Email me at sray@rc.net if you are interested.
