Like many other converts from Evangelical Protestantism to the Catholic Church I am forever indebted to the early Christians. I used to think they were Evangelicals until I read them and found out they were thoroughly Catholic. They dragged me into the Church kicking and screaming.

One Evangelical who wrote a book on the Church Fathers admitted in an interview that the Early Christians “were not Evangelicals.”

My conversion story Crossing the Tiber is FULL of quotes from the Church Fathers and my DVD Apostolic Fathers demonstrates how Catholic they were and how much I love those guys!

I just discovered a great website dedicated to the Early Christians and I highly recommend it. It is www.EarlyChristians.org. Go there and wander around. Read about the first Christians. Read what they wrote. If you are not a Catholic you will ask yourself why. If you are a Catholic, it will make you fall in love.

Enjoy! It is in both English and Spanish so recommend it to your Spanish-speaking friends.

i have been told time that the catholic church is not a church at all but a na organisation which covers their true dealings with the Bible though i’m quite confused with the message above i think being catholic isn’t the best i’m waiting for that proof if it turns to be what i’m looking for i’ll start something with them.

Gilbert: Try using punctuation marks. Without them, what you wrote is incomprehensible.

Gilbert,

Why does an organization and a church cancel each other out? Can’t a church be described as an ‘organization or group of universal believers in the Lord’? And what do you mean by “True Dealings”? What do you find confusing about Steve’s post? If you are waiting for proof, that means you instinctively think you may have found it. You only have to explore the Catholic Church, which as Steve points out, is the Church that Jesus established, and which the Early Church Fathers were a part of.

BTW, Steve has a message board where you can ask questions: http://forums.catholic-convert.com/

Greetings:
The Catholic Church is The Holy Orthodox Church. The Roman Catholic Church is The Roman Catholic Church. The Latin Pope didn’t even go to the council at Nicea. In Acts 15, James presided and provided final summation, not Peter. When they chose Mathias to replace Judas they actually cast lots, Peter had no authority or power over the others. Peter was Bishop in Antioch first, then travelled to Rome, the Orthodox have his chair. The Church Fathers exegesis on Matthew 16 and other Petrine texts disagree with current Latin promulgations.
The Latins butchered us at Constantinople during the 4th crusade cementing the Great Latin Schism of 1054 in blood.
It is about time Rome got in communion with the other Apostolic Churches and return to Christ’s true, holy Catholic and Apostolic Church referred to in the Nicene Creed (without the heretical filioque).

STEVE RAY HERE: THERE IS A LITTLE BIT OF TESTINESS TO YOU POST. I ALLOWED IT ANYWAY. HOWEVER, AFTER LONG CONSIDERATION MYSELF AND HAVING WRITTEN UPON THIS ROCK WHICH DOCUMENTS AUTHORITY IN THE EARLY CHURCH FROM APOSTOLIC TIMES I MUST SAY YOU HAVE THIS A BIT BACKWARDS. SORRY, BUT THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH IS THAT — UNIVERSAL. ORTHODOX ARE SECTARIAN AND JURISDICTIONAL AT BEST AND COULD NOT BE CONSIDERED UNIVERSAL WITH THE BEST OF WISHES.
