by Steve Ray on April 27, 2009

imgp6657Today I will be on the 2nd hour of Catholic Answers Live discussing the newly announce Year of the Priest. For info later on how to listen to archived replay, click here; to listen on-line tonight, click here.

I took this picture (right) of the incorrupt body of St. Jean Vianney on our last trip to Ars France (click on image for a larger picture.)

During the Year of the Priest, St. Jean Vianney be proclaimed the Patron Saint of All Priests. Until now he has been the Patron Saint only of Parish Priests.

I can’t wait to listen to this Catholic Answers. We’re finally starting to watch your Footprints of God series (thank you Netflix) and are really enjoying them.

Can someone explain to me about these incorrupt saint’s bodies. If they’re incorrupt, why is it that they sometimes have masks, or in this case, it looks like a wax coating or something?

Steve, thanks for creating this chart. I am blatantly plaigarizing it for the second year in a row for a Confirmation retreat. I’ve modified it to make it a little simpler, added/deleted a few things referenced elsewhere in the retreat. We use it for an activity where each of the categories (effect, matter, ministers, verses in support of, etc.) are cut out and given to a small group category by category. The small group on its own must decide what fits where among the 7 sacraments. They have to decide how it fits, then check with a leader who says it is either all correct, or there is something incorrect. They end up talking about the elements quite a bit.
