An interesting article concerning Christopher West and his interpretation of the Theology of the Body.

It is good to have opposing views. Here is one in defense of West and his presentation of the Theology of the Body.

Hi Steve. Not sure I totally agree with Schindler’s criticism. Here is a good counter argument given by Janet Smith. Please post it if you have a chance. God Bless!!!

Hey Steve,

I heard West speak at our local college and I have to say I was impressed. When I watched the interview on ABC I cringed at things taken out of context. From what I have hear and read of West’s work so far, I think people should read his work and definitely not let the media be their only source of interpretation. Not everyone is a theologian and even those should not always be trusted to “have all the answers”.

Has Prof. David Schindler ever actually read one of Christopher West’s books or attended one of his conferences/classes??? I have, and I can tell you that what Schindler had to say is nothing like what Christopher acutally says. Theology of the Body is a complicated subject for most of us and takes a lot of study and thought. A few minutes on a news program are not enough to explain the entire theology. And when you start to cut down on the interview, you start to lose the meaning and context of the subject. —Jo Ann

Christopher West is right on with his teaching on theology of the body. I have watched a couple of his video’s and have listened to one of his CD sets. He has a great respect and understanding of Pope John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body”!
