Pilgrimage Day 2: Transfiguration, Cana & Nazareth

by Steve Ray on November 16, 2009

Great day! We went to Mount Tabor to celebrate and learn about the Transfiguration. Then to Cana to renew wedding vows which is always emotional. Lunch at a Christian restaurant and then off to Nazareth to visit Mary’s Well, House of the Holy Family and Mass at the Church of Annunciation.

Everyone is doing great, learning a lot, have a good time and excited about the days ahead. Tuesday we go to the Mount of Beatitudes for Mass where Jesus taught, then to Caesarea Philippi (Banias) where Jesus appointed Peter as the head of the Church by saying “You are Peter (Rock) and on this rock I will build my church.” ¬†And much more . . .

Catholic Resources for iPhone

by Steve Ray on November 16, 2009

screen-captureYeah, I must admit — I am an iPhone devotee. I love the thing. One friend said it was life altering and I agree. I use it for many things to simplify (and often complicate) my life.

One problem: I have all the Mass Readings and daily prayers, but when I whip it out at Mass to read along in two translations everyone thinks I am checking my email. Hum! What to do?

There are wonderful iPhone aps for Catholics — yes, there is an ap for that! Here are a few I use all the time.

Bible Reading or Study: Check out OliveTree and Logos and CatholiciPhone

Daily Readings, Office and Prayers: Universalis, iBreviary, iMissal

Mass Times and Church Locations: Mass Times

Church Documents and other: Recordatio, iPieta, Dictionary of the Bible, Bible Dictionary, Catholic Trivia, History of the Popes, Catholic Days, and Let Us Pray.

If you have favorites, please let us know in the Comments below.

David Axelrod, a senior political adviser to President Barack Obama, has said that the White House will try to persuade the Senate to remove the pro-life “Stupak amendment” from the health-care reform legislation passed by the House of Representatives. Obama himself will intervene if necessary to secure that change, Axelrod said– despite the president’s promise that his health-care reform effort would not include abortion subsidies.
