Missed Sunday Mass…

by Steve Ray on June 10, 2012

… but kind of made up for it. We boarded our plane at 5 PM Saturday and arrived in Jerusalem before sunrise on Monday. Hum?!

So before going to bed we walked in the dark to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to join the 5:30 AM Mass inside the Tomb of Christ.

Every Mass here is the Easter morning Mass so we kind of made up for Sunday Mass – in a very cool way :-)

Don’t make it a habit. ;)

I don’t know if you’ve talked to your priest, but my job forces me to be on the road quite a bit (99% of the time) and sometimes, especially back when wi-fi was rare, it was difficult to find a Dominican (fancy word for Sunday) Mass. So, I spoke to my priest and he gave me permission to be absent from Mass when I’m traveling.

Perhaps you’re wondering how I can travel so much and still be registered in a Parish? Well, I travel 99% of the time when I’m at work. But I’m at home 100% of the time when I’m not at work. My schedule is wonderful. 8 days on and 7 days off. They actually force me to take vacations too. God is good!
