Boat Ride to Mass at Capernaum, Eating St. Peter’s Fish, Up to Jerusalem!

by Steve Ray on April 25, 2013

Today was a wonderful day full of grace and adventure. The Bible comes alive in the Holy Land. This is why we call Israel the 5th Gospel. Started out with a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to view the 2,000 year old “Jesus Boat” before arriving in the city of Jesus for Mass. What is the city of Jesus? It is Capernaum where he lived for the three years of his earthly ministry.

I gave my talk “Defending the Eucharist” and we visited the synagogue where Jesus said, “Eat My Flesh and Drink My Blood.” It is one of my favorite places in the Holy Land.

Lunch was St. Peter’s Fish with the head on! It is the same fish eaten by Jesus and his disciples on a daily basis. On the two hour drive up (south) to Galilee I told my conversion story from Baptist to Catholic. I never tire of telling this story. We arrived at the Church of the Visitation and I explained why Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant

We arrived at our hotel in Jerusalem, got checked in, had a great dinner and many people went out for a walk through the Old City of Jerusalem. We are all ready for a busy day tomorrow – all day in Bethlehem.

You all look as though you are having a fabulous time! Beautiful weather, superb host, excellent company, boosted by gorgeous scenery and deep-seeded history and on on and on — and all in such holy, holy places.

I am very much enjoying this vicarious visit to the Holy Land, and Steve’s wonderful commentary. I loved so many things about this particular video — such as the Jesus boat, watching the sailing, hearing the Truth about the Flesh and Blood of Our Lord and Savior. Wow!

P.S. Also, please tell Fr. Janusz he looks smashing in those sunglasses!

Fr. Janusz! We were SO happy to see you and hear your beautiful speech during a homily! Your day looked incredibly full and amazing. By the way, you look great in your shades! Also, everyone thought the fish looked seriously gross, did you actually eat it? Avery LOVED the the Mary Queen of Heaven painting….well, we all did…..but she made the most noise about it. You are all in our thoughts and prayers for a continued fabulous trip! Love, the Craven Family

Fr. Janusz, Avery here, I always think of how kind and generous you were to visit me and bring me Communion every day when I was very sick. I pray for you every day to have a safe trip. My fundraiser was amazing! I think the whole church came, I felt SO loved. Thank you so much for making that happen for me! I miss you,and Im thinking of you! Love, Avery
