Protestant/Other Christians

Reposted from a month ago – since it will all happen this Saturday!! At least I will be in Jerusalem and see it first hand when he descends to the Mount of Olives! Nut cases never seem to learn from history, or from the Bible for that matter. Jesus said no one knows the day [...]

Here is a video I made today in the rain. I am ever impressed with Rome and her 910 churches. Europe has serious problems, but there is a bright light still shining. Enjoy this 3 minute video and be proud! UPDATE TUESDAY: Maybe the full chapel was an anomaly yesterday. We went back for Mass [...]

Bill Boards, and mailers, and websites, oh my!!

by JesseRay on April 13, 2011

Posted by Jesse Ray: I put on my emergency flashers when I saw it on I-275. I had to pull over for a quick picture because I had never before seen a church advertise like it was a casino. Northridge+Easter=”Winning!” Next, a similar looking mailer came in the mail saying, “Easter comes once a year…<yawn>” [...]

Evangelicals with Statues?

by Steve Ray on March 9, 2011

Today I took off running through a commercial area behind the hotel. I discovered a nice jogging trail through the woods so I swung onto the trail and headed through the trees. Soon I came into the open to see a beautiful lake. A sign caught my eye. It had an arrow pointing to “Baptismal [...]

Evangelicals Dropping Out

by Steve Ray on February 13, 2011

A friend named Lenny wrote: I find this article interesting because what has filled many Evangelical Churches are people  who were previously Catholic.   And when I have run into these people they would tell me  they “used to be Catholic” and would want to tell me their story. The number of people attending church services [...]

The Gospel According to Reformer John Calvin

by Steve Ray on February 6, 2011

Heres the real Calvinist translation of John 3:16 For God so loved the elect, that He gave His only Son, that whomsoever He had chosen to not perish but have eternal life should believe in Him. For God sent His Son to condemn the world, and to save the elect.”

by Steve Ray on January 12, 2011

Isn’t it great to be Protestant? (chuckle)  You can now take Communion safely with these nice prepackaged crackers and grapejuice. Just pull off the hermetically sealed top and “commune.” Yum! I am so glad to be a Catholic!!  (click in image for larger image)

by Steve Ray on January 3, 2011

Pack your bags — opps, that’s a waste of time ‘cuz you can’t take anything with you. Hum, well, OK, then get right with God quick — wait, you should do that anyway. No, I didn’t mean that literally — don’t WAIT! Do it! Just get ready — the Rapture is coming May 11, 2011 [...]

by Steve Ray on November 29, 2010

… as he says Hello to Rome. Here is Bishop Burnham’s “Farewell Sermon.” For the whole story and text of the sermon, click here. One has to respect the sacrifice and integrity of such a man! We welcome him and pray for God’s blessing. On our last pilgrimage-cruise, Fr Stephen Gideon told us his agonizing [...]

Priestesses? Why Only Boys Can be Daddies!

by Steve Ray on November 21, 2010

This is an excellent audio talk by Peter Kreeft on why the Catholic Church has a male-only priesthood. Why Only Boys Can Be Daddies It was only a month ago we were in Israel and a group of Anglican priests and priestesses stayed in the same hotel. Some of the men wore pinkish-purple shirts with [...]

St. Ignatius Steps on Luther

by Steve Ray on November 19, 2010

Today my wife and I are exploring new things in Rome. We again visited the beautiful church dedicated to the founder of the Jesuits. It is called the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola. In Italian it is Chiesa di Sant’Ignazio di Loyola a Campo Marzio. It was built in the 17th century, back when the [...]

Protestants Changing Views on Mary

by Steve Ray on November 10, 2010

Since we are having Mass at Mary’s House today in Ephesus, I thought I would share this article. When I was an Evangelical I never recall hearing a sermon on Mary. To do so would put the pastor in danger of becoming a bit “Catholic.” But, I hope those days are changing. Here is an [...]

Response to a Ex-Catholic

by Steve Ray on October 17, 2010

I received an e-mail from a Southern Baptist and decided to take a few minutes to respond. Thought others might be edified by it so I have posted it here without using his name. His e-mail is contained in regular text and my response is in CAPITAL LETTERS. **************************************************** HELLO FRIEND: I WILL ANSWER BRIEFLY [...]

“Ecumenical” Bible Studies

by Steve Ray on October 16, 2010

Without a teaching authority, this is really true of most Bible studies. I remember Bible Studies that started out with “What does this passage mean to you?” Who cares???? What matters is – what did author intend in the context of his own time and how has the Church understood it for 2,000 years!

“Christian” School Textbooks

by Steve Ray on October 13, 2010

There are many Catholics who send their kids to “Christian” (READ: Protestant) schools. This is of course their right, but not all of them know what their children are being taught. Here are a few pages from a textbook we used for our kids before we became Catholic. This is typical of “Christian” school textbooks. [...]
